Cos or Romain
General Information :
An upright plant with long narrow leaves. Tall and cylindrical in
shape. Cos lettuce has crisp green leaves and pale green ribs that look
coarse but are actually quite tender.
Its strong taste and crispy texture has been favoured by those who like iceberg lettuce.
This crisp, sweet flavored, long, firm leaves are often used with
ingredients such as anchovies and strong cheeses. It is traditionally
used in Caesar salads.
It is an all year round crop

Butter Head
General Information :
This vegetable is a small head lettuce with leaves that grow close to
and surrounding the head of the vegetable. This type has thick but soft
and tender leaves forming a cream coloured, soft, blanched heart. The
outer leaves are large and ruffled.
Grassy green leaves, butter texture, mild flavour. Butter Heads are rarely bitter.
